“She is despicable!” he actually shouted.

“I can not stand her!  She is rude, pushy, opinionated and a real Bully!”

Hmmm . . .

“So,” I asked him in my gentlest manner, “Does she remind you of anyone?”

“NO!” he stated categorically.

“I do not know anyone else like that!”

Hmmm, again. . .

I know if I asked that question to his wife and kids they’d have a totally different answer.

Ever stop to think that maybe the things we despise most in others push those buttons in us because they are a little too close to home?

What do ya think?  Can you try this one on for size?

  1. I totally see that in myself. I've gotten good and steamed at more than one person for lack of motivation, or failing to seize an opportunity when I'm really beating myself up for those same traits. This is a good reminder: sometimes when I'm yelling at someone, I'm really yelling in the mirror!
