SERIOUSLY SPEAKING - PRACTICING PUSHBACK…

Ever watch the martial art of Aikido?

When an attack comes towards a practitioner of this graceful martial art, they turn the aggressive energy right back onto the attacker!

This is a great image to hold onto when someone throws those subtle put downs (aka passive aggressive anger) in your direction!

DANCE WITH IT!   EXPERIENTIAL APPS

An opportunity to experiment with some fun
ideas...

PRACTICING THE ART OF PUSHBACK

Ever heard any of these?  Check out the translations:

 "You are so attractive, but..."
Translation:  "You look terrible!"

"I know you're very smart, but…"
Translation:  "You act like a moron!"

"I really like your friend, but…"
Translation:  "You have the worst taste in people!"

"I know you can be really successful, but…"
Translation:  "You are a complete loser!"

"You really do well for someone your age…"
Translation:  "You are such a wreak!"

LET'S USE THE FIRST ONE OF THESE TO PRACTICE OUR EMOTIONAL AIKIDO… AND HAVE SOME FUN!

The statement:  "You're so attractive, but…"

Pushback using the top note (What is actually said):

"Yes, and you know what they say, we tend to choose friends who are very similar to us…" (This one is said with a large sh#t -eating grin!)

Pushback using the bottom note (What is really meant):

"Oh, yes, I know.  I was always the ugly one.  You know, the runt of the litter.  They actually thought about drowning me…" (Make sure to really exaggerate this one!)

PUSHBACK is defined as "the act of forcing the enemy to withdraw -
Beating back the invaders."

THINK ABOUT IT AND HAVE SOME FUN!

What do ya say?

Can you get behind this one?
