SERIOUSLY SPEAKING – FREE YOURSELF FROM THE CURSE OF PERFECTION

Aristotle defined perfection as something that was totally complete in itself - something that contained all the requisite parts – so good that nothing of its kind could be better.

Later philosophers suggested a much more fluid definition – true perfection depends on progress, evolution and movement; true perfection is that which is open to change.

According to this believe, if the world were perfect it could not improve so would lack “true perfection” which depends on progress.  The paradox of perfection – often attributed to Lucilio Vanini (1585-1619) states that imperfect is perfect!  (read more)

DANCE WITH IT!   EXPERIENTIAL APPS
An opportunity to experiment with some fun ideas...

HOW TO FREE YOURSELF FROM THE CURSE OF PERFECTION.

If you buy into the second definition of “perfection” - that imperfect is actually perfect - then every flaw becomes a gift and an open door to personal evolution!

To experiment with this belief try these ‘mantras’:

Today I ___________________(fill in the blank with something that didn’t please  you)…

Tomorrow I _______________(fill in the blank with a way you will use what
happened to create your own personal evolution)

For example:

Today I gained one pound…
No worries tomorrow I will try something new…

Today that guy snubbed me on the street…
No worries tomorrow I will write a story about him...

You get the drift - Have fun with this one!  It really is 'evolutionary'!
