SERIOUSLY SPEAKING - SUFFERING FOR OTHERS

The concept of taking on other's suffering in order to prove our caring is a learned behavior that usually only creates resentment in the intended recipient.

This magical concept of alleviating someone else's pain by suffering ourselves might work in stories of powerful healers, but when practiced by us ordinary mortals it usually only gets in the way.

No one who's suffering wants to feel responsible for causing others grief.

Think about how many times you've heard 'this is hurting me more than it hurts you'…  Did it do anything to make you feel better?

An opportunity to experiment with some fun
ideas...

PAIN ALLEVIATION BY OSMOSIS

Let's check this one out ~

1)  Ask yourself if your suffering really helps anyone else.

2)  Ask yourself how and where you learned this was a good idea.

3)  Try this experiment:
Sit next to someone who is going through a hard time.
Pinch yourself - HARD!
Watch the other persons face.
Did it work?
Did your pain alleviate their suffering?
