RESOLUTIONS?  YEAH…SURE…
Think about this:

Every year that you make those same old resolutions you are actually 'feeding' your inner Bully - that part of us that scolds, 'shoulds' and shakes a giant stick as we fail…

What if this year your resolution is to assassinate that toxic Bully?

What do ya say? Can you do it?

SERIOUSLY SPEAKING - COUP STICKS

Remember getting gold stars in school when you were a kid?
Or an A+ on a term paper?

The idea was to reward children for completing a task - and completing it to the standard of the 'grading' adult…

An interesting concept and one we can certainly understand, but…

The take-away that we tend to grow up with is that nothing but 100% counts…

Can you see how this might be crippling?  How many times in real life do we hit that level?

What do we tell ourselves when we don't?

CREATE YOUR OWN COUP STICK

Think about what you have actually accomplished in the last week…

How much credit have you actually given yourself for what you did do instead of scolding yourself for what you didn't do?

Imagine creating your own 'coup stick'.  What would it look like?
Now imagine that you make a mark for each mini step you take…

How does this change your attitude towards getting things done and reaching your goals?

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

"Well," he said.  "I knew it!  I just knew if I waited, sure enough, he'd screw up!"

"What did you say?" he asked me.
"No, of course I didn't go into detail about what I wanted…"

Here's another one:
"My brother," she said, "is such an obnoxious bore!  He just talks over everyone."

"What did you say?" she asked me.
"No, of course I never told him how annoying he is…"

And finally:
"She invited me to dinner," he complained, "and made food I never eat!  It was awful!"

"What did you say?" he asked me.
"No, of course I didn't tell her what I could eat beforehand…"

What do ya say?  See a pattern here?

SLIP SLIDIN' AWAY…

Remember that Paul Simon song?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_H-LY4Jb2M

'Slip slidin' away
Slip slidin' away
You know the nearer your destination
The more you're slip slidin' away'

Check this out:
"It is so frustrating and mind boggling!" she ranted.
"I make a goal, really work at it, and get so close… and the next thing I know I'm miles off base!"

"Why does this keep happening?"

Her goal in this case was weight loss but I could have been anything…

What do ya say?
Been there?

How do you deal?

READING SIGNS...

The Native Americans were famous for it…

Frontiersmen had to learn it…

Detective novels abound with it…

What am I talking about?

Footprints on the path… animal spoor… the pattern of the clouds…

Yes.  The ability to track the signs…

Basic survival skills!

They are as plain - or as obstructed as we want them to be.

If we pay attention we can read today's signs in our friends, lovers, children and neighbors.

What do ya say?
Are you willing to pay attention to what's there?
Can you read the signs?

SERIOUSLY SPEAKING

Some of the “stars” whose names are part of the fabric of our lives
began their stories with failure:

Did you know that Bill Gates was a college dropout?  Walt Disney was told he had no talent and Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken fame didn’t make it till age 65!  J. K. Rowling was penniless, depressed and on welfare and is now one of the richest women in the world and it is said that Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before his light bulb finally worked!  check out more stories

Always wanted to try self hypnosis?  Here’s your chance!

Take a few deep breaths – close your eyes if you want – now let yourself drift backwards in time…

Remember your first bicycle ride?  Training wheels?  You balance on the seat.   It’s wobbly… But you do it!

Feel that excitement – Whoa!  And the first time without those extra wheels?  Was someone helping you balance?  Remember the sensation when you realized you were doing it on your own… Breathe deeply and let that exhilaration move throughout your entire body… You are flying!

Now take a mental snapshot of that moment…. Maybe the image comes with its own wonderful sound – Hear it?  Can you hum it?  Breathe it in!   Imagine putting a beautiful frame around this moment.

Now imagine putting that picture somewhere you can see it every day...  Hang onto that magic - it is always there – available to you – reminding you…

Dance with It and share your ride with us!
