SERIOUSLY SPEAKING - RE-CONNECTING

Athletes get it.
Students usually get it.

If you have a desired goal you have to stay focused not just on that end result but more critically on each step along the way.

Here's a super clear example:  Want to lose 10 pounds?

Are you focusing on that end goal or on the food in your hand aiming towards your mouth?

4  STEPS TO MAINTAIN THE CONNECTION:

1) Visualize your goal, what you need to do to get there and why you want it.
2) Ask yourself: Is what I am doing right now helping me achieve my goal?
3) Remind yourself why you want to achieve this goal.
4) Push 'refresh' on your internal computer and take yourself back to step1.

SERIOUSLY SPEAKING - SCORE!

What is a goal?
We can think of it as target to hit - a destination to reach…

Goals obviously are not achieved quickly.  They have to traverse the tricky and intense currents of our lives, and like that metaphor of a river, there are lots of rocks, shoals and alligators that they have to avoid!

Without a strong and potent 'why', navigating that river and reaching the opposite shore is a no-starter!

What are your 'whys'?
Are they powerful enough?

List your 'whys' - the reasons behind your goals.
Now look at your list.

How many of the 'whys' truly belong to you?
How many are society's norms?
How many come from your family?

Now rewrite your list with 'whys' that truly belong to you.
Try saying:
"I want to do this for me because…"

MANTRA ANYONE?

What?
You think it's too New Age-y?

Too 1960's?
Too out there?

Well, in reality mantras are repetitions of tones and words that reinforce intention…

Got a goal?

Need a boost getting there?
Try a mantra.  And yes. You can make up your own.

What do ya say?

Can you get how this could help?
