YEAH, IT MUST BE OLD AGE…

"I lost my keys again," she moaned.  "It must be old age!"

Okaay… I've known her a long time and wanted to remind her that she's been losing those keys for the last 20 years…

"My diabetes is getting worse," he groaned slurping down his second dish of ice cream.
Uh huh…
"I'm just not as strong as I used to be," the third one complained, glued to the tv for the evening…

What do ya say?
What's your favorite excuse?  How does that work for you?

MAKING EXCUSES…

"I keep getting hurt by the things that people do… I think some one is nice and then get shocked when they suddenly seem to turn ugly…"

The woman speaking was shaking her head.  (This seems to happen a lot, doesn't it?)  She was having a difficult time coming to grips with what kept happening to her…

"Ok," she explained, "I spent a lot of time with this person who I thought was a friend.  She kept saying with amazement how generous I was … I guess that should have been a clue, right?"

"I did notice the difference between what I gave and what she did, but somehow it didn't register… the warning siren just wasn't there…"

"Even when so many other people said what an awful b#@ch she was I just kept making excuses…"

What do ya say?

Can you identify?

Boss needed you?

Emergency at _____?

Couldn't find the______?

And there's always that old stand-by, "The dog ate my homework… and I had to glue it back together!

EXCUSES, EXCUSES

"I've been fighting it, making all kinds of excuses and explanations that even I know are bogus.  The truth is he is such a disappointment!"

The woman who made this statement was struggling with it…

"He's just not the person I thought he was, well…" she continued, "if I'm really honest he's not the person I WANT HIM TO BE!"

She sighed.  "All this time I've been erasing the bad stuff and exaggerating the things I like … really, it didn't seem like such a bad strategy…"

"But let's face it," she moaned, "sooner or later reality intrudes and that limited, greedy, attention hogging jerk sucks all the air out of the room… Ugh!  The truth is I really just don't like who he is!"

What do ya say?
Whose flaws did you try to erase?
Parents? Children? Co-workers? Friends?
Did it work?
