SERIOUSLY SPEAKING - MOAN & GROAN…

We really are a nation of kvetchers… not only is it part of many immigrant traditions - Irish, Italian, Jewish - to name a few, but we have also legitimized it in the form of 'venting'!

We have bought into the belief that this release of negativity is good for us … and those we dump it on!

Difficult things happen and we need to find ways of dealing with them... but in order not to burn out and get depressed or depress those around us we need to find balance!  With balance we stay effective and able to confront difficult situations!

FOR EVERY NEGATIVE…

Here's an experiment to try:
For every negative you feel or say, balance it with a positive.
It might take some getting used to - and stretching.

You can use the formula:
I resent…
I appreciate...

Not only is this a gift to those around you, but it also creates balance in your own life and a release from that ever present Victim position.

Try it!  You might really like it!

GOBBLE GOBBLE

We can all kvetch*.

                                   Human nature…

Habit…

The desire to share pain and suffering with others…

The desire to inflict pain and suffering on others…

I mean, let's be real, right?

But, isn't it amazing that we have a day dedicated to saying 'thanks'!

What do ya say?
How do you celebrate the day?

SERIOUSLY SPEAKING - KVETCHING 101

So, what is the draw?

What makes us relish the listing - and reiterating, ad nauseam - to ourselves and others, of the wrongs done to us?

We even seem to enjoy the comedians who entertain us with stories of their complaints.

It is possible that our goal in retelling these woes is to deflate them - to remove the sting with repetition or to somehow figure out the 'so it shouldn't happen again' solution…

ideas...

GO FOR THE GUSTO!
'If you gotta do it, do it good!'

Here are some steps to take in order to actually release the charge connected to our list of woes…

1)  Exaggerate - Push it to the extent of laughter.

2)  Share - But make sure it's mutual.  Don't dump without permission and          reciprocity.

3)  Fantasize - Imagine ways to 'download' your feelings.

WORMS, ANYONE?

Remember that great childhood song?

"Nobody loves me, everybody hates me
Guess I'll go eat worms…
Long thin slimy ones, short fat juicy ones…"

Ring any bells?

Why do we gather grievances and hold them to our bosoms as if they were priceless jewels?

Sound strange to put it like this?

Well, think about it…

Aren't some of your tastiest moments those spent going over the offences done to you?  You know… really getting into it?

What do ya say?
Sound at all familiar?

KVETCHING 101

Having a really down day?

Maybe one of those 'everything you have planned goes kaplooyee' days?

Feeling lonely and blue?
Dumpy and down?
Center of gravity around your toes?

Give yourself a break!

Check for your probably scolding inner Bully - the  'it's all your fault and your bad choices' voice…

And have yourself a really good kvetch!

"Aiii is me..."
"Woe is me..."
"Poor me..."

IT ONLY WORKS IF YOU GO FOR IT TILL YOU LAUGH!

What do ya say?

Can you laugh away a rotten day?
