So what’s the story? My phone rings and immediately I get that annoying call waiting beep. Do I click over – answer and for sure lose the current call or ignore that beep and miss what could be the call of a lifetime?
Is it those mysterious electro-magnetic fields I keep hearing about or does this qualify as multitasking – that amazing (annoying) thing that everyone under the age of 30 swears by?
Did someone say choices get easier with age? What do ya say? Let’s hear from you!

Hmmm..., well, the first thing I thought of was that it would be Publisher's Clearing House with my multi-million dollar check...

ReplyDeleteOkay so those beeps can be seriously annoying - but let's keep it clean people!
DeleteWell, you can let other people interrupt you, and let those beeps drive you nuts, but that’s not for me.
ReplyDeletePerhaps a short poem to sum up my thoughts:
Interrupting calls, whether
At home or on my cell;
Call-waiting beep, boop, or bell…
Just let them go straight to hell.
…or maybe an haiku of the same bent:
Interrupting calls?
Call-waiting beep, boop, or bell?
Just let them go to…
Way to go! Nothing like turning one of life's nuisances into a creative moment!
Deleteyes, they can always text again later.... we are all at the mercy of the beeps , boops etc. but it is catching and i

DeleteI never answer the land line phone at night. After a long day I cherish the peace and quiet of not being on the phone. The only people I will answer for are my kids and my husband and they would call my cell. I can screen my cell and listen to messages if I choose. Or waittil the morning. What I have a hard time with is unattaching the phone to my hip. A few weeks ago I went to yoga and forgot my phone. It took everything I had not to turn around and go back for it. Then all night I had this nagging thought that that VIP call had come and I had not been able to answer it. I want to be free from the fear of not having the phone with me. There are few things that require an immediate response.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of yoga...It's always interesting to recognize the things that make us stretch...those are the areas where we have lots of buried emotional treasure to explore... Remember when we didn't have cell phones...
DeleteI always would answer the other line, but then again, I've always been a "mystery box" kind of person.
ReplyDeleteI only vaguely remember when we didn't have cell phones. maybe it was better. don't know. a lot less people canceled appointments after making them.
